What It’s Like To Do a Branding Session with Brook Lyons Photography From a Client's Perspective

I know marketing, but I don’t know this type of marketing. SEO and Paid Ads are my bread and butter to help increase company revenue, but when it comes to branding I’m pretty clueless – especially when it comes to what types of images to take or use. 

Enter: Brook Lyons of Brook Lyons Photography! 

I had no idea what to expect when I decided to invest in branding images with Brook, but she made the process so easy, and actually a little bit of fun!? 

Here’s what you can expect if you do a branding session with Brook.! Some things may vary depending on the package you select, but the overall experience will be about the same. 

Pre-Session Consultation 

Brook really got to know me and my business. She asked me questions, asked why I do what I do, what I love about it, and had me send her my website and social media pages. All of these things helped her to give advice on color schemes, types of outfits to include, and for her to prepare her studio to have things set up in a way that matched my vibes, brand, and work that I do. 

The Day Of 

When I walked into Brook’s home, settled up against windy Ogden Canyon and descended the stairs into her studio, I had no idea how clean, professional, and prepared it would be! She already had the backdrop up, along with a desk and props since my business is marketing. It was professional, yet extremely comfortable. We started with her talking me through the types of images she envisioned taking, then asked if there were any specific requests from me. I had brought four different outfits, so we cycled through each one with different stances and props that made the most sense AND would be the most flattering in-post. Brook really makes sure she pays attention to those things so you don’t look back on photos going “ahhh, I wish I’d stoodk like this” or “I wish we didn’t pose that way in this outfit.” She thinks of everything! 

We Had Fun  

Brook has a way of making anyone feel natural and comfortable in her presence – even with the camera on! This really helps her images to shine in a way other photographers can’t capture, because she can get the authenticity and true joy from a person’s countenance. We laughed a lot, she made me feel beautiful, and she got me talking about my business so that when I looked at the images afterward, I could see the passion and joy I have on my face to be doing what I do. 

Post-Session: Photo Selection  

About a week after the session, Brook had me over again to select the images I would want edited and to keep. She had taken hundreds and had spent the week narrowing it down to the absolute best ones so I wouldn’t come in feeling overwhelmed and get decision fatigue. As we went through each one, I was so impressed with the way she went “And I thought this would be great for an Instagram post about Google,” or “This would be perfect for your About page on your site.” That meeting was just as fun as the session, and her expertise really shined through! 

Delivery 

Brook painstakingly edits each and every image selected by her client, so it takes a few weeks after narrowing it down to the images you want – and it’s well worth the wait! All of my images were delivered to me digitally, and if I thought they were amazing pre-editing, WOW. I had no idea how she could make them even better, but she did! And all while making it still look like me and without sacrificing the authenticity of the images.  

Takeaways 

I’m still working on finding ways to include all of the amazing images Brook took into my branding! There are so many versatile ways to use them, but I’ve already been able to start using a few. In any case, it was an investment that was WELL worth it and will benefit me and my business for many years to come.
